SOTD - A Treet 1-2 punch.

I continue to be very impressed by the products from the Treet Corporation of Pakistan. I was looking for a good DE travel razor that I wouldn’t be overly distressed if it got lost or broken in checked luggage (these days, all luggage must de-facto be checked since razors aren’t allowed in carry-on bags - unless of course, you just pack the razor without a blade and spend your time running around trying to find some when you land). I came across the Treet Delrin razor at Barbiera Italiana and decided to order a couple based on the wonderful results I’ve been getting with the Treet Blue Special carbon blades - my benchmark at the present time for all razor blades. At $7.50 for the razor including a couple of excellent Treet Platinum blades, it was a pretty low-risk buy. It arrived this morning with the usual alacrity and zealous packaging I’ve come to expect from Giovanni Abrate. I installed a Treet BS blade and made a terrific superlather with the Palmolive shave cream now mated to the Palmolive shave stick that arrived in the same box as the razor. Slathered on with the magnificent Simpson Chubby 2, I did three passes and a touch up with the Total Shave oil. The Treet razor was a very pleasant surprise. This is a very gentle and forgiving razor, even with the cuthroat sharp BS blade. It handled pretty much on a par with my Fusion or any cartridge razor and I often found myself disregarding the traditional 3-pass pattern and just floating willy-nilly across my face in any direction. A totally effortless shave and an excellent result. I will even go so far at to put this razor in a weekly rotation, for when I’m in a hurry or just too lazy to concentrate on the Slant-bar or Chatsworth. Overall, a solid 9.0 on my scale.
P.S. The Treet Delrin razor has a metal insert in the shaft that gives it extra rigidity and heft for a more traditional DE feel than a plastic disposable.

Very interesting buy. I’ve been thinking of getting one for the exact same reasons.
This review seals the deal. Now all I’ve gotta do is save up 7.50….Let’s see 50c per week…15 weeks !!!
BTW - hope you give the Lanolin Sup another shot maybe sometime when you’re bored or something. I took me 3x to get it right, but loving Lanolin alot I kept plugging away!

I love the lanolin products and plan to keep using (and combining) them. I just didn’t find combining two lanolin-based products significantly different from the other great superlathers I’ve been getting. I will keep looking for more lanolin combos though - so many to try, so little time….I might have to start shaving twice-a-day!

Nice review… you seem to be one of the few reviewers that actually likes this.
I’m going to get one, just as a travel razor. I’ve got nothing against plastic or light DE’s. My favorite DE at the moment is the Gillette Tech with the plastic handle or the lighter-weight Superspeeds.

Keep in mind its a very gentle razor. On the other hand, I get a shave pretty close to what I do with my Superspeeds and Adjustables (Fat-Boy and Thin-handle). Its no Merkur HD or Slant-bar however, so keep expectations low. A great beginner or travel razor, or for those lazy days.
