Real-life archaeology

Archaeology is enjoying quite a renaissance in public interest following movies like the Indiana Jones series, Relic Hunter, as well as the various current TV shows with an archaeological bent. Here is a more realistic view of the real “grunt-work” behind the stories; digging in 100 degree heat every day just to make a few inches of progress. These photos are from the archaeologist-daughter currently digging at one small portion of the massive Helike site in Greece. Good way to get a suntan and get pretty buff though!
