SOTD – Last day of the Wilkinson blade

wilw2.jpg

I must say, the Wilkinson Sword White Label is an excellent blade, fully deserving of the accolades it has received on the shaving boards. If we take the Treet Blues Special carbon blade as our reference point at 9.0, the Wilkinson is a clear 8.5. Mind you, I change blades every day, which really says nothing about the blade’s endurance…that’s for others to test and discover.

Today I took advantage of the unforeseen return of Summer that has continued all week: I used the MR GLO for prep, along with a very fine superlather from the Palmolive shave stick and cream combination. For the last few weeks I have been enamored of my “scrubby” brushes, the Plisson and the Simpson Chubby #2. But today I took out my Muehle-Pinsel black horn-handled silvertip brush and discovered that it lathers incredibly well…possibly better than the scrubbies. But, darn it, its too soft and gentle for my taste and now I’m torn between superb lather and the great feeling of a scrubby face massage! Ah…such problems to have!

The shave was amazing, pure EHM; finished off with the alum block and The GR balm and cream plus a splash of Taylor St. James cologne (not on the face).
