Some time ago I promised to post a redux of my two month exploration of Method shaving. I haven’t forgotten. Before doing so though, I wanted to complete the experience with a Shavemaster brush, which, according to Charles Roberts – the founder of Method Shaving – is absolutely essential to a proper wet shave. My comments will therefore be put on hold until the arrival of said brush from Austin.
I have always looked at the finishing pass as something optional, or to be done when the first three passes weren’t quite as successful as I would have liked. But I’ve had something of an epiphany here, due in large part to the experiments I’ve been doing with various oils, as well as Leisureguy’s parallel explorations of this area. I’m coming to the conclusion that the finishing pass is really an essential part of the EHM shave…an opportunity to buff off the final bits of stubble. While Michael explores a variety of oils, I think I’m going to try some other materials, beginning tomorrow with pure glycerine.
