SOTD – Day 3 Full Method

Day 3 with the full Method Shaving accoutrement. I’ve been alternating between Treet Blue Special and Tiger blades. I really like the Shavemaster brush with its enormous handle, so easy to hold with my large Sasquatch hand. So-so results though. The lather, or “cutting mix” in Robertspeak, is thin, wet, but not very protective. The result is an inconsistent shave with some mild irritation in places. I’ve got to work harder at developing a better mix. Funny enough, I find that the quality of the mix has declined since I started using the Hydrolast Activator. Frankly, I’m not exactly sure what that’s even supposed to do. The ingredients list on Hydrolast products is anything but informative…almost everything says: “Proprietary blend of vegetal oils. Proprietary blend of essential oils”. But the Activator rinses off easily with water and if you rub it between your fingers it emulsifies into a white cream, so it must contain some type of hydrolyzing agent…yet this is not indicated on the ingredient list. Very strange.
