As usual when I travel now, my shave kit consists of a thoroughly unsatisfying, yet amazingly effective combination of Cremo Cream (brushless) and a Gillette Fusion. I’ve written about the long and painful thought process that brought me to this decision some time ago, and you can read it here.

A very good shave, 3 classic passes with the Cremo Cream, plus a finishing pass with the Cromwell & Cruthers oil. Technically a 9.5 shave, EHM (Euncuch’s Hairless Mug) smooth, but sensually unsatisfying…..no sound of blade slicing beard…and only a chemical-coconut smell from the Cremo Cream. The razor felt as if I were just passing a magic wand over my face….virtually no sensation – and I suppose for some, that’s a good thing.
