I love breakfast…its my favorite meal of the day….probably because its the only time I’m truly, ravenously hungry (that’s where the word comes from I guess…to “break” the “fast” of the night before). Here are my favorite breakfasts in order of preference:
- A good slab of French baguette sliced in half lengthwise and topped with either natural peanut butter (unsalted) or a good homemade coarse orange marmalade;
- A hard-boiled egg, quartered, on a bed of arugula, drizzled with Ravida olive oil and some salt and black pepper;
- A soft-boiled egg, salt and pepper, dipped into with a good French baguette;
- Smoked salmon covered with capers, onions, a few black olives, and drizzled with Ravida olive oil;
- My homemade Belgian buttermilk waffles covered with fresh blueberries and drizzled with real Quebec maple syrup.
All, of course, accompanied by either a Greek coffee or lately, a Nespresso decaf. This morning it was #4 on the menu.
