Quebec City

Its off to QC tomorrow for the week-end; a gift to my mother-in-law for her 87th birthday.

I sold all my Leica film equipment, making the painful decision to get out of film and focus on digital; I could no longer continue to be “torn between two lovers” and had to make a choice. One thing I’ll say about Leica’s M film cameras…you don’t lose much money selling them even years later. Anyway, the M8 digital is still not quite where I want it to be, so I thought it wise to cash out now and bide my time. In the meantime, the Canon G9 gets to play 1st violin. I’ll try to post from Quebec City via my iPhone…I downloaded the special WordPress software for doing so; we’ll see if it works.

  1. And you don’t mention the latest excitement of Asta meeting our local skunk tonight!

  2. You sold your film Leicas? Wow! I made the mistake of selling a mint M3 forty years ago and I am still regretting it! I don’t think I will ever sell my Nikon SP.

  3. If you want to really cringe…two years ago I sold my brand new condition 1963 M3 which I had acquired from the estate of a man who bought it, put it in a drawer and never used it until his death three years ago (he apparently had many Leicas and never got around to that one). I sold it because it made me too nervous to use it and I’m not a “collector” type – if I can’t use it, there’s no attachment – life’s too short.

Now I’m waiting for the M9 (full-frame) digital…the convenience is just too seductive and film is becoming a real pain to process.
