I haven’t laughed this hard in 20 years. We watched the French movie Tanguy (with English sub-titles) about a 28 year-old man who refuses to leave his parents’ home and the extraordinary lengths they go to to try and get him out. The young man is a PhD student in Asian studies and spouts Chinese wisdom at every infuriated outburst from his parents. The best is when his enraged father screams at him “You are an ass-hair between the teeth” to which Tanguy replies: “Even ass-hair casts a shadow” with a serene Asian demeanor. Rent, beg, borrow, or download this movie. Probably a lot funnier if you have your own Tanguy at home! Best to keep a supply of oxygen nearby.

The movie was so popular in France that the word Tanguy has entered the common vocabulary to describe a man who refuses to leave his parents’ home.
