It’s been a couple of weeks since I wrote anything shave related, and no, it’s not because I’ve joined a religious order and am growing a full-length beard! It’s just that my shaves have gotten so consistently good with a limited variety of implements and substrates, that I don’t have too much to say about it. Don’t get me wrong; I still enjoy gourmet shaving and will routinely switch between a few favorite soaps and creams, as well as post-shave paraphernalia. But it’s all too damned easy. The toughest part is when I travel (have been doing so quite a bit lately) and have to face the dreaded Fusion and some not-so-stellar “convenience” cream. Somehow, while the shaves are pretty smooth and easy to execute, the end result always leaves me feeling empty. Unfortunately, in these demented times of airport security, a cartridge razor and some 100ml. of shit-in-a-tube is all we’re allowed to carry on. Coming home to the first real shave after a trip (like today) is always a joy!
