Today I used the Israeli Personna blade in the benchmark E.J. Chatsworth razor, on a regular mono-lather of Proraso Red, whipped up with the Simpson Wee Scot brush. It was what I would call a “quickie” shave as I was on a tight schedule for an important business meeting…so, no superlather, and no alum block finish today!
I’m not sure why the fuss about this blade on the discussion boards. I found it a good blade, perhaps a 7.5 on my ten-point scale, just under the Sputnik and well below the Wilkinson Sword White Label. The Personna is a mild blade and produced an overall good shave, although there were some stubble rough-spots, beyond what I’m used to. It will be interesting to see if it improves over the next week as I make some wetter superlathers with premium creams. So far, just O.K. but no more than that.
