Remember I once said that because of better technique I thought I could now get a great shave from a backhoe? Well, maybe I should have used one instead of the American Personna! I haven’t had a nasty shave like this in a long time. It started off great…a superlather with two magnificent products, the Erasmic shave stick mated to the orgasmic T&H 1805 cream…a fantastic, rich, wet combination, especially when lathered up with the Muehle-Pinsel silvertip brush (bog-oak handle). A fresh Personna blade (as always) in the E.J. Chatsworth (arguably the best razor on planet earth…at least for me!). Halfway through the shave I new I was in trouble. I could feel the Personna slicing me up like a Thanksgiving turkey (how appropriate as this is Thanksgiving weekend in Canada)! At the end, the alum block told the tale….a stinging, zinging finish like never before. Drying off my face afterwards I could see the fresh blood on the towel, and the mirror was even worse…5 or 6 “weepers” at various places on my visage.
I’m sure I must have struck a dud blade….the last two shaves have been very good, although mild for my taste. Anyway, its game over for the Personna…its nowhere near the Treet Blue Special, so why continue? Tomorrow, back to the Treet for some R&R before going on to the Israeli Crystal.
