This Vermont Public Television documentary on the tricks investment fraudsters use and how to protect yourself, is excellent. It blew me away to learn that the stereotype of the typical victim as a little old lady who lives alone and has little investment knowledge, represents only a tiny minority of those defrauded. In fact, the vast majority are sophisticated, knowledgeable, and highly educated investors. One of the things they do have in common is that they are used to taking risks in their personal and business lives and hence, are more vulnerable to the risky propositions most others would eschew. Well worth watching. If the link below doesn’t work, go to the “Watch the full episode” highlight below it.
