My wife and I were at a new flooring place today, looking for some engineered wood flooring for our downtown condo where archaeologist daughter lives. The owner was very helpful and I think we’ll wind up buying from his store; he seemed very willing to educate us and spent a lot of time helping us.

As I stood at the cash-register area chatting with the owner, a clerk was preparing an order for an Asian gentleman. He had filled out one of those three-layer carbon order pads and was separating the top and second layers (the customer’s copy) when the whole order shredded away from the top of the pad; obviously the perforation wasn’t done properly and the paper just ripped instead. The Asian gentleman looked at the clerk and with a wry smile said….”Ah, book made in China!”.

Unfortunately, as the owner had previously explained, so is all the wood flooring.
