I made this recipe tonight upon my return from a couple days in Toronto. I was tired, and the temptation to order pizza or sushi very high. But for the price of a sushi meal, I figured I could buy a lot more groceries….and besides, this recipe was gnawing at me since I first saw it last week.
It turned out truly delicious, even my wife the super-taster liked it. A one bowl meal, complete from salad to meat. I used a wonderful organic fair-trade whole brown rice as the base in order to keep the glycemic load down. And instead of beef, I used lean ground bison. Couldn’t find cooking sake, so used some extra-dry white vermouth. A definite comfort food and destined for the monthly rotation at our house.
