As I’ve written in the past, as my wife and I prepare for retirement in the next five years we have undertaken the rather massive task of downsizing a lifetime’s worth of possessions. We have adopted a simple rule: One comes in, one goes out, i.e. for any new purchase there must be a disposition of an existing item.
In keeping with this notion and in reference to yesterday’s post about the new Dan Capshaw brush, I’ve decided to part with my Simpson Chubby #2 Super Badger brush. This brush is generally considered one of the greatest brushes on the planet and is highly coveted by aficionados. It is at the pinnacle of Simpson’s craft. It is essentially in Mint ++ condition, having seen about 10-12 shaves. Since this is a brush for a lifetime, that means it’s not even broken in yet. It currently retails for between US$260-290, depending on the on-line retailer.
My usual procedure is to put it on eBay, but if I can save myself the hassles of doing so, I’m willing to sell it at a very attractive price to any shaving friends of this blog. The price is US$125 (plus shipping)…less than half of retail. Let me know via the comments section if you are interested and we can arrange a PayPal transaction. I will hold on to it for a week before putting it on eBay.
