I grew up with Tabac products, after an elderly family friend gave me a birthday present of some Tabac aftershave when I was around 15 or so. I have loved this stuff since then and have tried just about everything they make. My two-month foray into Method shaving made me realize just how much I missed the variety of many soaps and creams…few more so than my beloved Tabac. So today I chose to go back to my roots (shaving roots that is) with the venerable Tabac shave soap and cream, generously worked up with the Muehle-Pinsel bog-oak handled silvertip brush. A fresh Treet Blue Special in the E.J. Chatsworth…three classic passes…a finishing pass with the TSS oil and voila! The resulting Tabac superlather was a little anemic, although very fragrant, and still capable of buffering the Treet, which gave a virtuoso performance. An overall 9.5 shave, finished off with he alum block (zero irritation) and a shot of T&H A.S. Balm. Very nice.
